CautionÃÂ Avoid Fraudulent Billing
By |
Physicians who bill public aid should take careful note that the state code prohibits billing other parties if public aid
is paying the bill.
According to Illinois Public Aid Code, a physician who obtains payment for the treatment of a patient from the Illinois Department of Public Aid is barred from obtaining any further payments from the patient or any other source.
It is considered a Class B misdemeanor to attempt to obtain the remainder of a bill from anyone else, including insurance companies.
