The Ten Commandments of Litigation
By |
If you are, or expect to be, involved in any type of civil lawsuit, or even more importantly, if you are or expect to be the
subject of a criminal prosecution, you should take the following steps:
- DO NOT talk about your case with anyone.
- DO NOT attend any conferences, hearings or meetings concerning your case without first calling a lawyer.
- DO NOT sign anything.
- DO NOT give any statements, oral or written, to police, investigators, insurance adjustors or anyone else.
- DO hire a lawyer immediately, or at the very least consult with a lawyer.
- DO refer anyone who requests you to sign anything or who seeks information about your case to your lawyer.
- DO call your lawyer immediately if you receive any letters, papers or notices of any kind pertaining to your case.
- DO assume that your telephone and computer communications may be subject to electronic eavesdropping.
- DO keep your lawyer informed of any developments in your case.
- DO call your lawyer if you have any questions regarding your case.
